【摘要】:ThistestmethodisrequiredtoevaluatetheperformanceofengineoilsintendedtosatisfycertainAmericanPetroleumInstitute(API)Cservicecategories(includedinSpecificationD4485).Itisperformedinalaboratoryusingastandardizedhigh-speed,single-cylinderdieselengine.Pistonandringgroovedeposit-formingtendencyandoilconsumptionismeasured.Thepiston,therings,andthelinerarealsoexaminedfordistressandtheringsformobility.AllmeasurementsmadeinaccordancewiththisstandardshallusetheSIsystemofunits.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Beinganenginetestmethod,thisstandarddoeshavedefinitehazardsthatrequiresafepractices(seeonSafety).
