【摘要】:Whenaboxbecomeswet,theperformanceoftheboxanditsclosurearereduced.Itisdesirabletohaveboxclosuremethodsthatretainanabilitytokeeptheboxclosedwhenwet.Sealingorreinforcingmethodssometimesareusefultoimproveperformanceofwetboxesandclosures.Waterresistanceissometimesaregulatoryorcontractualrequirement.Atestresultindicatingthataboxclosuretapeoradhesiveissolubleordispersibleinwaterisanindicationthatitsfunctionwillbesignificantlyimpairedwhenwet.Atestresultthatdoesnotindicatesolubilityordispersibilitydoesnotnecessarilyensurethatthebondingabilitywillbesatisfactorywhenwetorthattheperformanceoftheboxclosurewillbesatisfactorywhenwet.PackageperformancetestingdescribedinthewaterresistancesectionofPracticeD1974isusefultofurtherinvestigatetheeffectsofwateronpackageandclosurefunctions.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaproceduretodeterminethewaterresistanceofanadhesiveortapeasmeasuredbytheamountoftapeoradhesivedissolvedordispersedinwater.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
